Today was the first round of the tournament and unfortunately, I can’t say that I had a very good day. Although the weather today was absolutely perfect, my golf game was not so perfect. I ended up shooting six over with six bogeys and no birdies. It’s really hard to get any momentum going when you don’t make a birdie. I gave myself some good chances but just couldn’t get anything to fall.

I got my first look at the course yesterday and I was definitely impressed. The course looks really good and I think it will prove to be a good track for the tournament. The greens are fairly big, so I think putting will be very important. They were pretty fast even for the practice round, so I’m sure they will be rolling really well by Friday.

It is tournament time in Kentucky! I drove down to London today to get some practice in and even though I’m still in Kentucky, it feels weird to be playing in a Futures Tour event in my home state. I guess it’s because I’ve been so used to traveling out of the state to play. Besides the Kentucky Open, I haven’t played in a big tournament in the state in a long time. We are playing at Crooked Creek in London and from what I could tell today, the course looks really good. Everyone I’ve talked to has had good things to say about it. The tournament committee has been working really hard to make this one of our best stops.

My break from the Futures Tour is almost over and I’m getting ready to head to London for the Kentucky Futures event. I took a little break from traveling to tournaments, played in the Kentucky Open, and I just got back from North Carolina to visit Sean. I did learn an important lesson on the way back from my visit….NEVER travel through Atlanta! My connecting flight was scheduled to leave Atlanta at 2:45 and I didn’t leave there until 8:00. To top that off, I got food poisoning, so needless to say, I will do whatever I can to avoid Atlanta from now on.

Now that I have had a couple weeks off from tournaments, it’s time to get back in the competitive mode. I have spent the last couple weeks relaxing and practicing some. It has been nice to get a break from tournament travel for a little while. Tomorrow is my practice round for the Kentucky Open. I decided to play in this tournament while on a break from the Futures events so I can still have some good competition while I’m home.

I will have to say that I am really glad to be home for a while. My mom and I drove back home yesterday after my round and it feels good to be able to relax a little bit. I didn’t play that great yesterday but I did get a check, so that’s always a plus. I’ve had a decent stretch of tournaments lately, so at least I’ve had a little bit of money coming back in. It has been nice to be able to drive to the last few too so I could save some money on plane tickets.

After I walked off the golf course today, I felt like I had just been in a fight. I can’t remember the last time I’ve played in sustained winds that hard. I started my round at 1:10 and made it to hole 12 before they suspended play for storms in the area. We had about an hour delay and luckily I was able to finish my round. I thought the wind might calm down after the storm went through but it didn’t take it long to fire back up again. Several girls were unable to finish their round and will be going back in the morning to finish.

I feel like I’ve said this a lot, but today was an interesting day. Once again, I hit the ball pretty well and unfortunately my score was not reflective of how I played. One bad swing on 15 cost me a triple bogey and I let my under par round slip away. It’s really frustrating to be so close and then just let it get away from me. I got it to four under today through 12 holes and I think I started thinking too much about what I was doing instead of keeping my head in the right place. I’ve decided that it’s impossible to not know what my score is, but I’m working on finding a way to not let it get to me. I need to learn how to feel comfortable at three or four under par.

Right now, I’m sitting in the hotel room watching the NBA draft. Tomorrow morning, I’ll be teeing off for the first round. I played my practice round this morning. The course is in pretty good shape and should be a good test for everyone. There are some interesting holes out there and the greens are tricky. It looks like they buried a couple elephants under the greens on some holes. Placement will be very important this week…off the tee and on the greens. It could get tough if you leave yourself in the wrong spots.

Hello from Hammond, Indiana! My mom and I drove up to the most northwest part of Indiana yesterday for the next Futures event. Yesterday and today I’ve just spent some time practicing. I drove around and looked at the course today and am planning on playing a practice round early tomorrow morning. Since this is the third week in a row of tournaments, I decided to just play one practice round and spend the rest of my time hitting a few balls and putting.
