Green for Green: Companies Provide Incentives to Support the Environment

 Are you still waiting for the day your boss offers you money to pay for your new car?  That day is coming sooner than you think.  Many organizations across the United States are offering cash incentives to employees that trade-in their old gas guzzlers and purchase hybrid cars.  Businesses are hoping the extra cash will motivate their employees to purchase slightly more expensive but considerably more environmentally friendly cars.

The Four-Day Work Week: Your Company’s Solution to High Gas Prices?

With the aid of cell phones, PDA’s, and unlimited wireless connection it’s no secret that Americans are spending more time working and less time at their actual job site.  Telecommuting and the use of virtual teams are both win-win situations in which an employee can spend more time with their family and still spend enough time in their careers.  These are both great options for people who would like to not only see their loved ones more but also save on transportation costs; however, there is another popular option.  The four-day work week is a somewhat new experiment in which employers have replaced the original 5, 8-hour day work week with 4, 10-hour days.  This trend is becoming very popular and is sweeping through the nation, and Kentucky.

Jobs for College Students with Education, Experience and the Right Attitude

We have established that there will be jobs available when you graduate.  The question is:  will you be the one qualified to seize the opportunity? A four year degree will be an advantage over the competition but next the employer will want to know, what experiences do you have and how positive is your attitude.  According to Jamie Johnson, a career counselor of the Stuckert Career Center, at the University of Kentucky, “It is not about your major, it is about what you can do and what you want to do.” Employers are looking for people who already know how to do some of the functions of the job, are excited about doing the work and learning how to do it better.
