         Alright gang… it’s been busy past few days in the newsroom with regular news and editorial decisions… from the young woman who was escorted out of the Richmond Mall for wearing the dress she had bought there… to the start of school to some of our always brazen criminals making life tough for everybody who works hard and tries to do the right thing.    Then we’re all proudly watching USA performance at the Olympics and keeping a watchful eye on that situation in the country of Georgia where Russian troops were brought in.

DEMOCRATS ANNOINT CANDIDATE  

      Lexington Democratic activists heard from five candidates who wanted the party nomination in the 75th house district.   That’s the mainly downtown/UK area district represented now by Kathy Stein who is running for the senate seat being vacated by Ernesto Scorsone.    After 24-years in the legislature, Scorsone is switching gears in his public service career and running for circuit judge.

ELLINGER IS REPUBLICAN NOMINEE FOR SENATE

        There could be an interesting race brewing in Fayette County for that open state senate seat where Ernesto Scorsone is leaving the legislature after 24 years.   Scorsone has decided to make a career change and go for a circuit judgeship.  (Word is Scorsone has already raised significant money and is promised more by supporters if he draws an opponent).

 75th District Possibilities

         We’re reporting on WKYT that Lexington attorney Foster Ockerman, Junior is making the rounds and indicating strong interest in being the Democratic nominee for the 75th district state house seat.   That’s the seat that Representative Kathy Stein plans to leave vacant as she runs for the state senate seat that Ernesto Scorsone is leaving to run for circuit judge.   Who’s on first?

Scorsone Makes His Move… Candidates Consider

     What we reported a few weeks ago is now official… Longtime Lexington State Senator Ernesto Scorsone is running for a Fayette County circuit judgeship.   In doing so, he abandons his quest for re-election, leaving the door open for someone else.
