REPUBLICANS BRING IN CAMPAIGN CASH
By all accounts the GOP event in Louisville was successful. Republican donors handed over about $2 million to be split between McCain’s campaign and the state GOP.

McCAIN-McCONNELL
On June 28th… Senator Mitch McConnell, candidate for re-election and Senator John McCain, candidate for President, will hold a joint fundraiser in Louisville. The two have often been at odds over the very issue of campaign fundraising. McCain has sought to limit the use of money in campaigns… while McConnell has often said it equals free speech. McConnell reasons that only because of time purchased by candidates, can they speak the unfiltered truth to the public.

POLL SHOWS SLIGHT LUNSFORD LEAD
Polls taken two days after the media hoopla surrounding a competitive primary victory can certainly skew a poll. That having been said…. the Bruce Lunsford camp is trying to draw some attention to an independent statewide poll.

CLINTON… BOOSTED BY KENTUCKY… FIGHTS ON
After my one on one interview with Senator Hillary Clinton this week, there was no doubt in my mind that she would continue her campaign regardless of the Kentucky outcome. Even as staffers seemed to have a few questions in their mind about where this is all going… Clinton was resolute. She said confidently… “this is not over.” She also said there is nothing wrong with a close nomination process or a spirited convention.

PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY
Kentucky’s primary is here and the Democratic presidential nomination is still unsettled. Such a scenario was unthinkable last year, when many said Kentucky’s primary would be too late to count. That may still be true… but no one should tell that to Hillary and Bill Clinton. The two have campaigned non-stop in the Bluegrass State in recent days. It is obviously part of a strategy to show that she can win in often Republican leaning middle America.
