Hey folks…the holiday weekend has arrived and let me be the first to wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day weekend!!! This is always a great time of the year and I know it’s even better when the holiday either falls on, or is wrapped around the weekend since many folks can take extra days more easily. I will say it was nice to see the sun return on Friday (along with a few scattered clouds as expected) as temperatures made a run toward the 80 degree mark. Despite the storm threat into the 4th of July, temperatures should be a big positive with highs over the holiday weekend only in the low 80s!!! That’s a far cry from the typical upper 80s/low 90s with high humidity levels that we typically see this time of the year…so that’s one positive to pull out heading through the holiday.

Hey folks…I hope you Thursday has been a good one, despite the fact that it feels like we’ve gone into a time warp here in Central and Eastern Kentucky. I guess if we were trapped in a cave for months on end, totally lost track of time, and were brought out and asked what month it was…I’m sure the majority of folks would guess April or May without even flinching!!! As expected the upper level low off to our northeast has been hanging in tough as nails and as a result the clouds ruled the roost again Thursday with extensive overcast across the central and northern counties while down south we did manage to sneak in a bit of sun at times. Of course afternoon highs were well below the curve, struggling to get into the low and mid 70s for highs. Will it ever end? Sure…there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Hey folks…Happy July to all and I hope your mid-week is going well…you gotta love being one step closer to the holiday weekend, and a long holiday weekend for some. Right out of the gate I have to admit how whacked out our weather has been of late. Of course the main story is the upper level system that has brought the unseasonably cool/mild air to region just as we finish out June and welcome July, but throw in the freakish late night severe thunderstorms across the southern counties late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning…and the whole thing feels like it is going helter skelter, whacked out, whatever you want to call it! On a side note…every time I say whacked out, it reminds me of that kids arcade game “Whack-a-Mole”…I have no idea why???
